Groundbreaking ceremony of new Carel plant in Suzhou, China

Suzhou, China, 6 September 2018: A ceremony was held, in mid-August, to mark the laying of the cornerstone of the new Carel Group plant, in the SND district of Suzhou, China, the company announced in a Press communiqué.

According to Carel, the ceremony was attended by representatives from the XuGuan area of the Chinese Ministry for Economic Development. The aim of this new plant is to boost production for the Chinese market and the Asia-Pacific region, the communiqué said. Covering an area of 15,000 square metres, the new site will be three times bigger than the current plant, located about three kilometres away, the communiqué further said. The Carel Group plans to move to the new site in the first quarter of 2019, the communiqué added.

Luciano Marzaro, Managing Director, Carel Electronic Suzhou, explained the company’s strategic decision to build a new plant in the Suzhou industrial district: “With consolidated infrastructure and the necessary technological facilities, Suzhou is the ideal place to manufacture and market innovative solutions, such as those made at the new Carel plant. The new plant will also highlight our R&D area, the true excellence of Carel Electronic Suzhou, which accounts for 24% of the Group’s R&D operations.”

Alberto Catullo, Carel Regional CEO, North APAC, said: “The new site will become a hub for the technological skills needed to support Carel’s operations in the APAC region. The construction of this new plant will allow us to develop advanced solutions to meet the expectations of customers in China and the rest of Asia.”
