Chapter members participate in technical seminar
The Qatar Oryx Chapter of ASHRAE held a technical seminar titled “Application of green building rating systems in Qatar”, at Aalishan Restaurant, Doha, on May 25, according to an announcement by the ASHRAE Oryx Chapter. Forty-five air conditioning professionals and members of the society reportedly attended the seminar and were given attendance certificates by the Chapter. Seenu S Pillai, the General Secretary of the Chapter, was the guest speaker on the occasion. His talk on green building rating systems in Qatar focused on LEED and Qatar Sustainability Assessment System (QSAS).
According to Oryx, Pillai explained the necessity, demand potential and benefits of sustainability in the building construction industry, which accounted for a major share in consumption of energy and water and carbon emissions.
Er. Hassan Sultan, the President of the Qatar Chapter, welcomed the gathering and informed it about the forthcoming Chapter elections, for which a nomination committee was formed from among the attendees. Er. Mohamad Mokdad, the CTTC Chair, compeered the proceedings and proposed the vote of thanks.
