Dubai, UAE: ASHRAE Falcon Chapter (UAE) has announced that it will be organising the ASHRAE’s HVAC Design: Level I – Essentials and Level II – Applications training programmes, for the fourth successive year. The training, the announcement said, will be take place in Arjaan by Rotana Hotel, Dubai Media City, Dubai, from November 6 to 10, 2016.

The Level I – Essentials programme, the announcement revealed, will provide participants with instruction that accelerates their transformation into effective members of a design, construction or facilities maintenance team. Developed by professionals selected by ASHRAE, the training, the announcement further said, provides attendees with the fundamentals and technical aspects of HVAC design, which will help attendees gain practical skills and knowledge to design and maintain HVAC systems that can be put to immediate use.

The attendees, the announcement said, will receive real-world examples of HVAC systems based on the renovated ASHRAE Headquarters building, in addition to discussing the engineered drawings of the renovation so that participants are exposed to plan reading and visual understanding of system design.

The Level II – Applications programme, the announcement mentioned, provides participants with advanced information that allows practising engineers and designers an opportunity to expand their exposure to HVAC systems design procedures for a better understanding of system options to save energy. The training, the announcement explained, has been tailored for engineers with advanced experience in the HVAC design field, or those who have completed HVAC Design: Level I – Essentials.

The training, the announcement said, will be delivered by Donald L. Brandt, CEM, Life Member ASHRAE, BEAP, and Joel Primeau, P. Eng., ASHRAE Member, HBDP, LEED AP.

ASHRAE Falcon Chapter (UAE) informed that the training is intended for:

  • Engineers new to the HVAC industry, including recent engineering graduates lacking practical experience
  • Facilities managers involved in new construction or major renovation projects
  • Technicians who would like to gain design knowledge
  • Architects who want to understand HVAC system design
  • Sales engineers and HVAC equipment suppliers who want to gain a broad knowledge of HVAC systems

The training, it added, helps attendees understand:

  • The need to improve overall building performance
  • The technologies that lead to improved building performance
  • The economics of sustainable buildings and the roles of the designer and facilities manager
  • The basic skills needed to design high-performance buildings
  • The skill set that will be required by designers of the future
  • Techniques to interact effectively with all design partners (architects, owners, other engineering disciplines) in an integrated design team
  • The capacity to participate in the design of high-performance buildings
