Empower has announced its participation at the 105th annual International District Energy Association (IDEA) conference and trade show in Seattle for the tenth year running.

Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO, Empower, will take part as a featured speaker at the conference and on a panel discussion entitled Future Proofing Cities for Efficiency, Resiliency, & Economic Durability, and will share Empower’s experiences and discuss best practices in deploying district energy for optimum efficiency and reliability, the announcement added.

Empower will also reportedly showcase, through a workshop at the conference, its expertise in managing consumption meters for over 40,000 customers.

“The concept of district energy envisages environment-friendly neighbourhoods and sustainable energy utilisation, said Bin Shafar. “Its execution requires ardent dedication from community leaders and the state. We have successfully implemented this model in Dubai, where the emirate’s visionary leadership opted to utilise District Cooling technology over conventional cooling methods for its landmark communities.
“The purpose of Empower’s establishment and our journey of a decade rightly interpret the essence of 105th conference of IDEA – ‘Moving Community Energy Forward through Local Leadership & Local Action’.”

Highlighting that cities and villages within Dubai enjoy the benefits of District Cooling technology through Empower DC services, Bin Shafar added that the IDEA conference and trade show would be the best opportunity for Empower to share its experiences.

IDEA 2014, which will reportedly take place from June 8-11, brings together industry professionals from around the world to discuss community-based energy systems and the importance of thermal energy. It is expected that Dubai will be declared the host city for the IDEA winter conference scheduled to be held in December 2014, Empower revealed.
