SAS claims its products contribute to country’s green vision

In the UAE alone, more than 65 projects have been LEED certified with more than 10 times that amount registered for certification according to the Middle East Center for Sustainable Development. In addition, Abu Dhabi’s Estidama Pearl Rating has been awarded by the Urban Planning Council to more than 40 projects in Abu Dhabi. Citing these as instances of UAE taking the lead in sustainable growth, SAS International, a manufacturer of interior fit-out products and green building solutions, has highlighted in a press release that in anticipation of the upcoming ecoConstruct Expo 2013 to be held in Dubai, developers in the region will once again focus on the benefits of implementing green building practices and integrating innovative, sustainable building solutions. The company reaffirmed that sustainable development and green building made up key pillars in Dubai’s Vision 2021 and Abu Dhabi’s Vision 2030.

In the light of this, Andrew Jackson a Director at SAS International revealed that his company had been involved in a number of projects in the UAE including Aldar HQ, Trust Towers and Al Bahr Towers, where its metal ceiling systems have been installed. “Our metal solutions can help a building towards meeting LEED standards, but more importantly, projects are now demanding long term-value of any product balanced with environmental credentials which closely reflects the UAE government’s own vision for a more sustainable future,” he said.

According to SAS, due to increasing knowledge about green building and with government support, developers have pursued LEED certification and gained certification for major projects such as the recently completed Dubai Electricity and Water Authority in Al Quoz, which was awarded a LEED Platinum rating, and has more points – 98 out of a possible 110 – than any other project in the region.
