It announces agreement with Shams Group for distribution of YORK Residential Air Conditioners.

Johnson Controls has announced that it has entered into an exclusive agreement with Shams group for the distribution and aftermarket services of its YORK residential air conditioners.

“The YORK brand is a trusted name in Egypt and our history of association goes back to the availability of YORK ammonia refrigeration units in the early 1900’s,” Magdy Mekky, Johnson Control’s vice president and managing director for the Middle East said. We are delighted that our partnership with the Shams Group will ensure the continuity of this trust and offer end users energy-efficient solutions”.

Established in 1957, Shams Group will offer an extensive range of YORK residential air conditioners from 17 Shams showrooms and a network of 200 dealers.

“Shams Group will distribute YORK residential systems including window, wall-mounted and free-standing units, ceiling floor units, stand alone packaged air conditioners and our technologically advanced digital scroll YORK VRF (variable refrigerant flow) systems which offer intelligent control, provide installation flexibilities and can connect up to 48 indoor units to a single outdoor unit,” added Colin Gibbons, regional executive director Middle East for industrial refrigeration and distributed products and systems.

Johnson Controls has three manufacturing facilities in the Middle East: in Jebel Ali, Dubai, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and Izmir, Turkey.

The company has worked on a number of high profile projects in the region, including the City Stars mixed-use facility and the Cairo Festival City in Egypt; Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest skyscraper in Dubai; the New Doha International Airport and the Pearl Development in Qatar; the Bahrain Bay Project; the Kingdom and Faisaliyah Towers, Jebel Al Qala and the expansion of the Holy Haram in Makkah.
